EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\GOSPEL AND HOMILY:
Evangelium Matt 5:13-19
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis: Vos estis sal terræ.
Gospel Matt 5:13-19
At that time Jesus said to His disciples: “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its strength, what shall it be salted with? It is no longer of any use but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Neither do men light a lamp and put it under the measure, but upon the lampstand, so as to give light to all in the house. Even so let your light shine before men, in order that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Do not think that I have come to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For amen I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall be lost from the Law till all things have been accomplished. Therefore whoever does away with one of these least commandments, and so teaches men, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever carries them out and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – MARTEDI 7 DICEMBRE, S.MESSA ORE 8.00
DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*)
Oggi, vigilia della grande festa dell’Immacolata Concezione, festeggiamo Sant’Ambrogio, ‘Aurelio Ambrogio’ (in latino: Aurelius Ambrosius), meglio conosciuto come sant’Ambrogio (Augusta Treverorum, incerto 339-340 – Milano, 4 aprile 397).

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**)
Today is the eve of the great feast of the Immaculate Conception and we celebrate Saint Ambrose, ‘Aurelio Ambrogio’ (in Latin: Aurelius Ambrosius), better known as Saint Ambrose (Augusta Treverorum, uncertain 339-340 – Milan, 4 April 397). The Catholic Church counts him among the four doctors of the Western Church, together with Saint Jerome, Saint Augustine and Saint Gregory I pope.
He left an extraordinary legacy to the Church.
Imperial official (under Valentinian I) in 370 he was appointed as governor of Italy Annonaria for the Roman province Aemilia et Liguria, based in Milan. His biographer Paolino relates that Ambrose was elected by acclamation as bishop.
But this is not enough to elect a bishop. In fact, the ratification of the Catholic hierarchy is needed. This aspect was also critical for Sant’Ambrogio.
In fact, priestly ordination by another bishop is also needed. Let’s not listen to the false teachers who teach false doctrines about it! Sant’Ambrogio had to follow the same path.
At the time the Roman Empire was in ruins. Ambrose led the local Christian community with great authority and ability to influence even with the emperor.
The church that had just emerged from the era of persecutions had put itself at the moral guide of the Roman Empire!
The Church will fulfill its mission if it returns to being a source of civilization and faith in the world!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
