DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*)
Ricordiamo San Milziade o Melchiade (Africa, 240 c.a. – Roma, 10 gennaio 314), trentaduesimo papa della Chiesa cattolica. Fu papa dal 2 luglio 311 alla sua morte come martire a causa delle persecuzioni subite. Sotto il suo papato fu proclamato il famoso editto di Costantino (313) che permise alla Chiesa di uscire dalle catacombe. Le conseguenze dell’editto per la vita religiosa nell’impero romano sono tali da farne una data fondamentale nella storia dell’Occidente.
Nel periodo in cui San Giovanni Battista predicava, Gerusalemme non era piu’ il centro della religiosita’, non era piu’ una citta’ santa. Gli israeliti andavano nel deserto dove la voce del Signore si fa sentire.
Al giorno d’oggi e’ la stessa cosa. Non sono piu’ la basilica di San Pietro e il Vaticano il centro della religione.
Gesu’ sta per manifestarsi di nuovo, specialmente al suo gregge che segue la voce del Suo Pastore. La voce del Signore viene nel deserto.
Anche nella persecuzione come al tempo del papa Milziade.
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

We remember Saint Miltiades or Melchiade (Africa, 240 c.a.- Rome, January 10, 314), thirty-second pope of the Catholic Church.
He was pope from 2 July 311 to his death as a martyr due to the persecutions he suffered.
Under his papacy the famous Edict of Constantine (313) was proclaimed which allowed the Church to leave the catacombs.
The consequences of the edict for religious life in the Roman Empire are such as to make it a fundamental date in the history of the West.
In the period in which St. John the Baptist was preaching, Jerusalem was no longer the center of religion, it was no longer a holy city.
The Israelites went into the wilderness where the voice of the Lord is heard.
Nowadays it’s the same thing. St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican are no longer the center of religion.
Jesus is about to manifest himself again, especially to his flock following the voice of his Shepherd.
The voice of the Lord comes in the desert.
Even in persecution like at the time of Pope Miltiades.
