Evangelium Matteo 8,5-13
5 Entrato in Cafarnao, gli venne incontro un centurione che lo scongiurava: 6 «Signore, il mio servo giace in casa paralizzato e soffre terribilmente». 7 Gesù gli rispose: «Io verrò e lo curerò». 8 Ma il centurione riprese: «Signore, io non son degno che tu entri sotto il mio tetto, di’ soltanto una parola e il mio servo sarà guarito. 9 Perché anch’io, che sono un subalterno, ho soldati sotto di me e dico a uno: Va’, ed egli va; e a un altro: Vieni, ed egli viene; e al mio servo: Fa’ questo, ed egli lo fa».
10 All’udire ciò, Gesù ne fu ammirato e disse a quelli che lo seguivano: «In verità vi dico, presso nessuno in Israele ho trovato una fede così grande. 11 Ora vi dico che molti verranno dall’oriente e dall’occidente e siederanno a mensa con Abramo, Isacco e Giacobbe nel regno dei cieli, 12 mentre i figli del regno saranno cacciati fuori nelle tenebre, ove sarà pianto e stridore di denti». 13 E Gesù disse al centurione: «Va’, e sia fatto secondo la tua fede». In quell’istante il servo guarì.

5 When he entered Capernaum, a centurion came to meet him and implored him: 6 “Lord, my servant lies paralyzed in the house and is suffering terribly.” 7 Jesus answered him, “I will come and heal him.” 8 But the centurion said, ‘Lord, I am not worthy for you to come under my roof, just say the word and my servant will be healed. 9 For I too, being a subordinate, have soldiers under me, and I say to one, Go, and he goes; and to another: Come, and he comes; and to my servant: Do this, and he does it. ” 10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those who followed him, “Truly I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such great faith. 11 Now I tell you, many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, 12 while the children of the kingdom will be cast out into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ” 13 And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go, and let it be done according to your faith.” In that instant the servant was healed.
DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*)
Oggi e’ la messa votiva degli ammalati. La sofferenza fisica e morale e’ molto diffusa in questi tempi.
La causa e’ l’abbandono della fede. Non soltanto a causa dei nostri peccati. Si tratta di una sofferenza espiatoria.
Occorre la fede. La fede guarisce l’ammalato. Ma per non cadere nell’ipocrisia, non fate vedere agli altri la vostra preghiera. Il vostro cuore deve essere penitente di fronte a Dio.
Oltre alla fede occorre il cuore penitente, come il centurione che chiede l’intercessione a Gesu’ per il proprio schiavo ammalato.
Offriamo il sacrificio santo per la guarigione di tanti fratelli che soffono, affinche’ il Signore li restituisca alle loro famiglie, risanati.
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo!

Today is the votive mass for the sick.
Physical and moral suffering are widespread in these times. The cause is the abandonment of faith. Not just because of our sins. It is an atoning suffering.
Faith is needed. Faith heals the sick. But in order not to fall into hypocrisy, do not let others see that you pray.
Your heart must be penitent before God. In addition to faith, a penitent heart is needed, like the centurion who asks Jesus for intercession for his sick slave.
We offer the holy sacrifice for the healing of many suffering brothers, so that the Lord will restore them to their families, healed.
