Evangelium Matt 10:34-42
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis: Nolíte arbitrári, quia pacem vénerim míttere in terram: non veni pacem míttere, sed gládium. Veni enim separáre hóminem advérsus patrem suum, et fíliam advérsus matrem suam, et nurum advérsus socrum suam: et inimíci hóminis doméstici eius. Qui amat patrem aut matrem plus quam me, non est me dignus: et qui amat fílium aut fíliam super me, non est me dignus. Et qui non áccipit crucem suam, et séquitur me, non est me dignus. Qui invénit ánimam suam, perdet illam: et qui perdíderit ánimam suam propter me, invéniet eam. Qui récipit vos, me récipit: et qui me récipit, récipit eum, qui me misit. Qui récipit prophétam in nómine prophétæ, mercédem prophétæ accípiet: et qui récipit iustum in nómine iusti, mercédem iusti accípiet. In that time: Jesus said to his disciples: Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And as a man’s enemies shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for me, shall find it. He that receiveth you, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive the reward of a prophet: and he that receiveth a just man in the name of a just man, shall receive the reward of a just man. And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.
DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*)
Oggi ricordiamo il luminoso esempio di San Venceslao I (in ceco Václav), nato a Praga in Cechia, è stato duca di Boemia dal 13 febbraio 921 alla morte. Nei pochi anni del suo regno (4) venne martirizzato a causa del fratello a causa della sua fede cristiana. Venceslao era infatti cristiano al contrario del fratello che era ancora pagano. È venerato come santo dalla Chiesa cattolica e dalla Chiesa Ortodossa.
Gesu’ dice infatti oggi nel Vangelo che e’ venuto a portare la spada.
Per essere fedeli occorre separarci dagli altri. Infatti, dice Gesu’: “chi non prende la sua croce e non mi segue, non è degno di me”
Non dobbiamo cercare la pace con chiunque. Dobbiamo cercare la pace con Dio! Solo cosi possiamo apprendere come comportarci verso gli altri.
Ma prima viene la nostra fedelta’ a Cristo! Solo dopo potremo trovare la via della pace.
Permettiamo a Dio di entrare nelle nostre vista, dandogli tutto quello che possiamo!

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**)
Today we remember the shining example of St. Wenceslas I (in Czech Václav), born in Prague in the Czechia, was Duke of Bohemia from 13 February 921 to his death.
In the few years of his reign (4) he was martyred because of his brother because of his Christian faith. Wenceslaus was in fact a Christian unlike his brother who was still a pagan. He is revered as a saint by the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church.
In fact, Jesus says today in the Gospel that he came to bear the sword. To be faithful we need to separate ourselves from others. In fact, Jesus says: “whoever does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me” We don’t have to seek peace with anyone.
We must seek peace with God! Only in this way can we learn how to behave towards others. But first comes our faithfulness to Christ! Only then will we be able to find the way to peace.
Let’s allow God to come into our sight, giving him everything we can!
