Evangelium Matt 5:13-19
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis: Vos estis sal terræ.

Gospel Matt 5:13-19
In that time, Jesus said to His disciples: You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house. So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled. He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*)

Concludiamo il mese di settembre. Abbiamo celebrato la BVM e San Michele Arcangelo. Oggi celebriamo San Girolamo.

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**)

We conclude the month of September. We celebrated the BVM and San Michele Arcangelo.

Today we celebrate San Girolamo. When he arrived in Rome he entered the climate of spirituality of the city, he became a spiritual father. Pope Damasus commissioned him to translate the Bible from Greek and Hebrew into Latin. Its translation, the vulgate, is the official translation of the Catholic Church (Conc. Of Trent, 1543).

It is in fact the teaching reference point of the Catholic faith, against the deviations and perversions introduced in the sacred texts, made to indulge the passion and itch for novelty, by a crowd of [false] teachers.

The original text must therefore always be read as a point of reference. Precisely to rediscover the importance of the Latin language. The credit for this goes to our Pope Benedict XVI who has restored its value. This will be the starting point of the renewed Church, when God wants to bring about this great event.

We look forward to this event with confidence!

Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
